This is an old revision of the document!
During the Roll-Out of the new cellular technologies like 4G (LTE Long Term Evolution) and 5G (NR New Radio) old technologies will be shutdown by the network operators.
Popular Examples are:
All Netmodule Routers are supporting at least two cellular technologies.
Therefore in most cases a replacement is not needed.
In Some Cases a configuration change will be needed.
On some very old legacy Products a replacement is needed for some operators due to band restrictions
In the most cases the WWAN interface are used in automatic mode.
Sometimes the customer is forcing a specific service type (e.g. 2G-Only, 3G-Only, 2G/3G-Only) based on various reasons.
You need to make sure this setting is matching with your future operator support, or enable the automatic mode.
All Current Products are equipped with LTE Modems that support multiple Service Types As 4G Service will not be shut down.
Some product Variants are sold with LTE-Advanced Modems (Order Code Ld/Ld/Lb) which not support 2G anymore. Here you will lose the fallback Option into 3G in Germany in the Future.
All other LTE Products are supporting 2G and 3G Fallback and therefore will not lose Connectivity.
Our Legacy Products NB1310, NB2210, NB2240, NB2241, NB2340, NB2341, NB2500, NB25411, NB2600 and NB2600R were also sold with Modem supporting 3G and 2G.
Some of our legacy Products are build with the Option Wireless Modem GTM380, which does not support the UMTS BAND 5 Frequency 900Mhz which will is the only supported 3G Band by Swisscom. A Replacement is need to maintain connectivity.
The other Option Wireless Modems (GTM382, GTM661, GT671) are not affeced by this limitation.
You can check for the Modemtype used either in the System overview of the Webgui or in a created techsupport file
