The NetModule Wireless Routers have a lot of components installed. A few of them have their own firmware running. The NetModule Router Software (NRSW) is Linux based and the core system of the router. It can be accessed by the WebManager and keeps all configurations. Cellular modems or other components have local programms running called Firmware.
This overview page will give you the answers to the most questions.
In some cases a firmware update is needed to maintain a steady function in the future. If we are posting a warning on the outdated version we were informed about the vendor on a recommend update for his module.
If there is no warning showed there is no general need for an update. Please take a look on the WWAN Modems releases to see the history of updates.
A detailed manual can be found on the Firmware update Wiki Page. The update process is fail safe.
If your Software is older than one year a software update is recommended. You can use the WebManger to check if a Firmware update is available.
Starting with 4.5.0.100, 4.4.0.107 and 4.3.0.108 we increased the maximum filesize for the direct upload. If you you are using an older software you will to have to use the download from URL function.
It's the same module which we use for two features. Therefor only one update is required. Please choose WWAN1 for the update.
